hi bought xbox 1 month ago for sons birthday.it worked fine played backups had loads of programs,loaded with evox dashboard next day seems to have went to basic xbox dash.<still plays originals>
I assumse it was softmodded as i dont think its been opened.
do i need to softmod to fix it?thanx

Turn off xbox. Hit the eject button to turn on xbox. what do you see.
Try to load one of these games if you have.
hopefully, the linux file will boot up and reinstall evox.

still get same screen tried splinter cell and bonus disc looked in memory 0 saves 0 content 6 blocks <for splinter>

Can you call the guy you bought xbox from. He knows how to get into the linux file on your xbox and reinstall evox dash.
Since I don't know which linux file on your xbox. Therefore, I have to try to remove it from xbox. Then reinstall softmod follow this tutor

Ill try other games first as there is quite a few hidden in house think still have phone number.but will defently look at tutorial as looked at yours before and easy to follow.

well tried all games nothing worked.must have lost phone number even tried mine. splinter cell was a classics of his.only option to remove linux?

The splinter cell is have to be the one in picture. Other splinter cell will not work.

looked at link for splinter cell but covers must be different in uk.Bought splinter cell still didnt work
probs be just as easy to install a modchip maybes my son wont break it as fast lol

Why don't you just hard mod the xbox? Soft mods are unstable as you've seen. A good chip to get is the spider chip, it works on all versions of xbox, it's decently priced and it's easy as hell to install. go to www.xbox-scene.com for installation tutorials :)
