I cant get this game to load it always shows a cd icon that changes to a ? in the top left. I tried rebuilding cdvdgen style but when I go to press build iso on the last step it says its done right after I press it, but obviously its not.

I have swap magic and got MGS Disc1 to work fine.

I rebuilt it anyway even though there was very little difference in size in the iso files.

Another thing you could try, is when rebuilding & files extracted, before rebuilding in CDVDGen, replace the DUMMY.DAT file with a file with 1 byte of data.

to do this easily just open notepad. press only the space bar, then save the file as DUMMY.DAT and overwrite the original (its about 1MB).

Make sure it prompts to overwrite though.

then rebuild with CDVDGen and you should be good to go.

if your using cheap media this might also cause the problem.

I copped the US ISO and im in the UK with swapmagic and it plays very nice.

P.S oh yeah, i dont burn the iso directly from CDVDGen... I save the .iml from CDVDGen & then use iml2iso v4 to make the iso.

EDIT:

ffs lol. also if you already are using iml2iso & its giving that error... try saving the iml file into the same directory where the extracted iso files are.

maybe it cant find the files to rebuild the iso.

D00d. The problem you're having is probably the result of an old swap magic disk. This game (for me) only works with dvdloader (v5.3 no pn option). The first time I dvdloaded it, it gave me the "?" in the corner. The second time I dvdloaded it, it loaded up the start menu a la standard MGS3, with Snake beating on some poor guards.

Swap magic 3+ have this problem too?
