half life 2 on a mobility Radion 7500c? PLEASE HELP!

I downloaded hl2 shaders on my laptop that runs halo with no problems except shaders and decals and such wont work. This computer is better than my desktop which is and Hp pavilion a404x which ran half life 2 on lowest settings with only a few frame rate issues. My desktop has no grafics card and was running hl2 on nothing but integrated grafics from the motherboard. the 7500c is I believe a direct x 7 card but its better than integrated grafics. I just looking to play at low setting with no frame rate issues. When I try to run hl2 it comes aut in what looks to be black, black, black, and a little white. can I correct this in any way? I heard something about making adjustments the the versions of direct x but I dont know how. PLEASE HELP!
