First off i read through the guides and stuff, installed WNASPI32.dll, latest firmware, ect. Went to walmart and following the media guide i picked up a 50pk of 8x sony dvd-r's. scanned it with Dvd Decrypter and they are TYG02 yuden's.

Now for the tech specs.

NTSC PS2 - V7 with DMS4 Lite E.Z.I (latest toxic bios installed)
PC - 1.12GHZ AMD, 1gb DDR Ram, Lite-on DVDRW SOHW 1693S (with latest firmware - KSOB) and of course i restarted the computer after updating the firmware.

Double checked the DMS4 connections, everything is good. boots original's fine (complete with the little 'toxic' logo below the ps2 logo. I backed up my Kingdom Hearts 2 and Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 (both NTSC USA). having little luck with KH2 with crappy media, i tried it on one of my yuden's using dvd decrypter to read and burn. all it gave me was the RSOD under various boot options (toxic bios menu). and 'Unable to read disc' under fastboot (it brings up the dvd player controls on a black screen.

So i figured maybe there was something about kingdom hearts 2 that i couldnt find. Moved onto backing up RE Outbreak File 2, once again i used Dvd Decrypter to read and write. Same RSOD, so i tried nero. same RSOD. Is there something i'm forgetting, overlooking or just plain missing? Do KH2 and RE-OF2 require rebuilding? Patching? some sort of other method?

Don't feel bad I have looked over everything and have come down to you need a mod setup (Chip or other) or a bootdisk. I don't have a clue used genie and it did not do anything but rebuild files but still would not read it. Error screen red not a game disc. I don't know what to do.

I don't do much but what I do is alot.

@ThaWorm. A DMS4 Lite E.Z.I is a modchip, it's a solder-less modchip. As far as i know a modchip or swap magic bootdisc is the only way to successfully boot backups (don't hold me to it though, as i could be wrong).

EDIT!! - Following one of Mik3H's guides, i cleaned my laser a second time (apparently i missed dirt or something the first time) and it boots perfect under anything.. so let this be a lesson, just cause you cleaned it once doesnt mean it's 'Clean'

thank you mike for the great guide
