i never had a problem backing up ps2 games....untill recently. first my sony dru-510 burns out on me... then my computer... so i get a new computer and a new benq. i update the firmware and start burning... the backups only work about 15% of the time. i burn at 2x on riteks. for some reason the games that are under 2.5 gig seem to play and the full dvd backups refuse to boot. i have a v4 ps2 with a magic 3 chip.

my question is this...
do any of you think my backups will play better on a new slim-line ps2? are the lasers better? i know the older ps2's are picky when it comes to what brand of dvdr you use.

The early versions of the slimlines has alot of problems with backups, the newest model seems to be good though.

Try bumping the burn speed up to 4x,I had a similar problem when burning at 2x.

yeah... i've tried 4x as well with about the same results. i wish i had a second system modded to test my "bad" backups on just to make sure it's my ps2 and not my burner.

Use Different Media! Use Verbatim, Maxell or taiyo yuden! As they seem to work for large group of people!

Here download Nero DVD/CD speed 4.5, do a disc quality test on one of your burns and post your results as it will help us to help you!

Also BenQ's highly favor the plus format booktyping ability to DVD-ROM, they aren't too hot on minus format, and you might want to opt to Taiyo Yuden as well as this will improve the life of your PS2 laser and backups.
