Hi guys, although this is first post with this ID I am not new to the boards, I used to be here a bit a couple of years ago but my account has been deleted or not recognised so I've had to create a new one.

I'm using TmpgEnc express to encode avi to mpeg and I set it for PAL output, everything seems fine and get my mpeg which I then take to DVD LAB PRO for authoring. When I drop it into the assets window it needs to do some demultiplexing or something so I OK the highly recommended option but my file shows in the assets window as NTSC. I can author it ok with a warning about ntsc and pal (DVD LAB PRO is also set to output in PAL) but what I dont understand is why when I have encoded it to be PAL has it come out as NTSC and is this because of TMpgEnc or is it because of the authoring software? Hence not knowing where to put this post, authoring or encoding - so if it's posted wrongly I apologise but at this point I am unclear whether it is and either or situation.

Thanks in advance for your help.

(My previous ID was Jordan C - if any administrators are able to help me find that account and reactivate I'd also really appreciate that)

Get Fx MPEG Writer - Free Version. http://www.fxmpegwriter.com/

Load the file created from TmpgEnc into it and it will tell you if it's NTSC or PAL.

This way you can narrow the problem to one or the other of the programs your using.

Whichever program is causing problems, I would think it's just a setting that isn't right.

PS> Welcome back!

Thanks.

Erm I've kinda sussed that its def TMPGEnc express. Because I want to author a multi title dvd I have to convert my avi's to mpg's. If I use tmpgenc's convert to mpeg thats when I get the NTSC, prob because the original AVI is NTSC, if I was to choose any of the other options I have choice to convert to PAL or NTSC, unfortunately there appears to be no way of getting it to chnage to PAL on a straightforward convert to mpeg.

Is there any software I could use before encoding to mpeg in TMpegEnc that will make it PAL? TBH any discs I make play ok on my player but I want to be sure there are no probs should I author discs for friends etc.

Why not try a different converter? There are lots of them that can create the mpeg file in PAL without problems.

A couple of examples:

WinAVI
Cucusoft
MPEG Video Wizard
Nero
ConvertXtoDVD

Just to name a few. Do a "google" on any of those and check them out.

I've used all of the programs I listed at one time or another. They all have settings for PAL and NTSC.
