I have a v7 PS@ that I got modded. It now has a Myth modchip in it, and boots almost every PS2 game I have burned very well.
However, it only boots some burned Playstation 1 games, and only those about half of the time.

These burned games work fine in ePSXe. Anyone have any ideas of what I could do with these? I didn't burn them on extremely high quality media, but it's not on the bottom of the line, either. So what do you guys think?

Should I pay more to have an Infinity modchip installed? Will it give me better compatibility with these PSX games? Or will a swap disc help fix this problem, on top of the modchip I already have? Any ideas would help.

hello

ps1 games can be very fussy things to boot, the most common cause is the media type
you probably know, that most chips require them to be put in ps1 mode?

you cant use swapmagic disks to boot ps1 games, for that you will need breaker pro,but thats not your answer
try some different disk's,what games are they btw?,some of the old titles had antimod checks on them, old ps1 games had heavy protection on them.....but saying that, they should stil load on a chipped ps2,as you have them on a disk already

cheers

Well, this Myth chip is supposed to be a clone of the Matrix Infinity, which has an auto media typ detection that's suposed to launch games automatically as a real PS2 would.

Most of the games I have are old Square Enix RPGs, actually quite a lot of RPGs. I've noticed that my backup of Suikoden 2 works fine whereas Suikoden 1 does not. What is the media type I should be burning these onto for the best performace? And is there a list of games that need to be modified before burning and playing on a chipped PS2?

And why in the world would PS1 games have such heavy protection, whereas PS2 and Xbox games have basically noen whatsoever?? Thats so backwards!!

hello

well one of your problems is stated right there....
Quote:
Myth chip is supposed to be a clone of the Matrix Infinity
infinity clones are not the most reliable chips in the world, and can be hit and miss as far as loading is concerned

as for good media..back in the day i used to use TDK/VERBATIMS for my ps1 games

as for modification to any games, you shouldnt have any worries
the only problems you can get is actually reading the disks to the hardrive, but if you are downloading them,it doesnt matter

if you can get hold of some more disks, then try them..burn them @ x10
and see how you go

use clonecd or alchohol 120 set in ps1 mode

cheers and good luck!!!

Is it worth the money and time to get an actual Infinity installed? Will it end my PS1 booting troubles? =D

Because this chip boots almost NO Ps1 games, despite my best burning practices...and yet, it boots random games sometimes. Go Figure!

hello

it would be cheaper and safer to buy a second modded ps1 from ebay
unmodding a modded ps2 and changing the chp is not the best idea in the world
i'm sure you can pick up one very cheap off ebay

cheers!!!
