I've been using nero's coversion to make dvd's with large files but when i want to try to make a vcd lets say 700 megs it says it's re-encoding the file but the end result it won't play on a stand alone player and i know it works cause i have created one vcd and it was alright i guess my question is how do i convert a xvid or divx to mpeg 1 that is vcd compatible ???

Try WinAVI video converter. It has AVI to mpeg 1 and AVI to VCD.
