hay guys i was wondering, with the new firmware hack for the xbox 360 dvd drive (bacically it boots up pirate discs and the 360 dosent know the diffrence), would this firmware hack be possibal to do on the external hd dvd drive coming out later this year? and will the external drive be able to play normal xbox 360 games or will you have to put them into the built in dvd drive?
-if you dont know what the xbox 360 dvd firmware hack is, google it.

i doubt that this could be done because the firmware will Probably be totally different in the HD DVD External Drives.....

im sure someone will find a way around it. microsoft paid millione to make the xbox 360 unhacable and not able to do pirate games. and well lol in a few months they have alrady ran pirate games on the dvd drive the xbox comes with.
but because of this microsoft may try to make the external dvd player not able to upgrade the firmware. but someone will find a way around it. design your own external hd dvd dive that plays pirates and communicated with the xbox 360 on the same levle that the official hd dvd drive does.

EgZaGeRaTe!!! there is always a way around copy protection.

I dont think the external will play games. It will just be for HD-DVD movies.
Why would they waste money making it backwords compatible to read regular dvds.
It would make it too pricey.
