Not particularly well. Sims 2 seems to be reasonably demanding. Have a look ata recent tom's hardware vga charts article.

The MX4000 is probably slower than the X300Se, to put it into perspective.

so what would be the cheapest pci graphic card i could get for sims to work perfectly?

i presume your motherboard does not have agp. check out the ati 9250 128 or 256meg pci card. staples has the 128meg version for $100Can. check this link for game requirements. http://compsimgames.about.com/od/thesims2faqs/f/systemrequireme.h...

256MB PCI, 128-bit I think. That'll be about the best PCI vidoe card there is.
How good's the rest of the system - The Sims 2 is reasonably demanding on CPU & memory, and without an AGP slot you're not looking at a top end model...
