G'day i'm new to the forum and in serious need of help. first off I think I probably only know enough to get myself further in trouble which is why I'm yelling and screaming for help with this issue.
I have been using nero to burn in conjunction with shrink. Initially I had no problems whatsoever but have, now on two occasions, had major problems with burn failure. the first time I ended up wiping the hard drive and re installing everything, not a process I wish to perform on a regular basis. I now find that after burning without issue, I have created a stack of coasters. I have tried re installing nero, which was not successful. I removed it completely including the registry and re installed, which didnt work. I have tried uninstalling and using decrypter, which worked perfectly on the first burn, then would not burn again. I have tried using clone dvd in conjunction with any dvd which will also not work (this is after removal of nero etc). I have tried updating the firmware as has been suggested in relation to the burner which is an LG, this also didnt work. I have checked the DMA files which appear to be correctly set. I have tiried 3 different media brands, all of which had previously worked which will no longer perform. It is copying files to the hard drive on all of the different programs used, but it appears only when picking the files up to burn that there is a problem. It has occurred at the immediate start, the end and any point in between of the burn process that it fails. As I said, I'm not super savvy re computers which is why help would be greatly appreciated. Attached is the last burn log which failed. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Reading your post and all the apps that you have tried made me think it was your burner. Not sure exactly what KEY HARDWARE ERROR means, but I am positive it is not a good thing.

How old is your burner?

You said you tried to update the firmware. Did you do it correctly? Did you read the readme file that came with it? If not, then you could have seared your drive to a nice golden brown...

Your Nero is a couple of versions behind, update from either of these links
http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe

http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe

Your burner firmware is current so no problems there.

Thanks guys. I have since loaded latest version of Nero. 1st burn no problems. I am now getting focus or tracking error with a burn failure.
The burner is about 3 yrs old but as you can see by the above it appears to still work. Priinco is only one of 4 different brands I have tried. all have worked in the past but nil are working now (except for the last burn mentioned above, which was actually a princo). I have the same problem with a samsung burner which is only a few months old ( It was purchased thinking the burner was the problem) so I dont think it is a hardware issue. A friend who knows more than me (not hard) seems to think it is some kind of software conflict but I dont know where to go from here.

Apart from Nero, do you have any other burning programs installed, such as Roxio??

No. I'm using Nero 7 and shrink. Previously I have also had clone dvd with any dvd installed at the same time but did not have a problem, with both working well. I have since removed everything and reinstalled nero7 with shrink. This hasnt solved the issue.

Suggest you use a decent RW disc until you sort it, much cheaper on the pocket.

Thanks. cost isnt really the issue, its annoyance factor. why does it work well on 2 different burners then all of a sudden refuse to work? there has got to be a reason and it doesnt appear to be hardware related.
