My friend has got loads of songs on his phone and sends me them aswell but all the mp3's he send me are all under 1mb (some are like 500kb) and they're full songs and he's allready sent me about 40 mp3's and my phone doesn't even have that much memory! So do you lot know where I can download software to make all my mp3's less than atleast 1.5mb or less, no higher than 2mb all my songs.

What you would need to do is, convert them down to 64kbps. Doing a little experimenting, I just took a 4 minute song, converted it to 64kbps, & came up with a 1.83mb file. This is pretty small & the quality is going to be lousy, but that up to you. I used dbpoweramp to do the conversion. Keep in mind that when you convert one lossy format to another you will lose quality in just doing the conversion along with the downsizing of the file. But again, that's up to you. You can Google for the converter & make sure you download the codecs for it to work with mp3's. Good Luck & let us know how it turned out.

P.S. dbpoweramp will allow you to go even smaller if you wish. Keep in mind, the smaller the file, the lesser the quality!!!

i dont know if this will work but if u have Nero, you can convert them into mp4 if your phone supports that and you can reduce the size dramatically. try it if u want.

Yeah but my friend makes them into really small files with the same quality as it started out with.

The only way to make the file sizes smaller is to lower the bitrate or convert them into a different format. Sometimes a different format will maintain some quality. But, if you're going to make a file smaller, you have no choice but to take away some of the information that is in the file. When you do that you're giving up some quality. Sorry, I don't believe there is any way around that. You may not have noticed a difference, but I'm certain there was.
