Just some questions for extracting groups of rar files

1.When extracting a set of files , how do you make them keep extracting one after the other? ...sometimes I have been lucky and after the first file the next ones start automatically...sometimes I manually have to extract each file (which is a pain in the ass and takes forever!)

2.How long can it take to extract a 4gb image on your pc? Mine is a older model (1.5ghz Xp 1gig ram) and it can take up to 4hrs or longer! I'm just wondering if a more modern pc will do this much faster or if I am not doing something right

3.Does shutting down background apps help the extraction speed?

4.I read in the sticky where someone said its faster if you extract from one drive to another drive ....does this really help?

I'm glad to meet other asshole computer user...
my computer is worse than u. 1.4G willamet core..

As I know, if you want to extract everything, don't click any file.
if you click a file, RAR extract only that file. Don't click anything just click "extract" on the menu.

with 1.4ghz /256 pc133, it took 10minutes to extract 4.3gb(well, about 3GB were dummy. I want to say don't believe remain time that program said. Just wait.. wait about 2minutes and the ramain time will decrease. If they don't, you might shutdown useless backgrounds. I suggest to analysis your harddisk. run windows defragation(I don't konw is it correct)and check if windows says you have to do that.

Before I seemed to be extracting each file seperate...hence the obscene amount of time!

I usualy just click open the first file in the list (either the .rar or .00 file) and extract and it extracts all the other parts automatically.

Also my pc is 1.3Ghz, 680MB ram and I can extract a 4gig iso in about 10 mins.
