Nowadays 'nearly' every media made in Japan is top knotch especially Maxell, Sony and Taiyo Yuden, to be honest I wouldn't of thought that it would matter with CD-R's as there isn't as much room for error as there is with DVD's.
Also check out this thread as I'v posted a reply to your lightscribe dilemna, lol

Okay. Now, could you answer this: I don't remember where I saw this, but I think I remember seeing somewhere that someone said that certain types of CD-Rs are easier on the PlayStation 2's laser than normal pressed CD-ROMs. Is this true?

Okay, I bought a 10-pack of these Maxell CD-R Pros, and they're made by.....Taiyo Yuden(Perfect!:)). Which makes me raise these two questions:
1) For sure the answer for this one is yes, but just to be sure. Are Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs better than Sony "Made in Taiwan" CD-Rs and by how much?
2) Is Taiyo Yuden as good for CD media as they are for DVD media?
Just want some clarification on Taiyo Yuden CD media before burning anything on my new Taiyo-made Maxells.

those Maxell CD-R PROS are OK in my opinion.
the best ones to buy in my opinion are ProMedia CD-R, they are made in the USA but have a quality that is higher than the japanese CD's. I used to burn music cd's for my xobx w/ Maxell CD-R PROs and they never worked. even w/ other brands of jap made CD-R's never worked this is the only one that plays on my V1.6 XBOX and thats a winner in my book. the link to them is below. these are the best. a 50 pack for 10 bucks!!!
