I have 3 different disk that I have a problem on. I have the Home Improvement season 1, 2 and 3. Season 1 & 2 rip fine to my HDD with the same size as on the DVD. Now season 3 is a diffrent story. The DVD drive says all 3 disc are 7GB each and after I rip the disc using DVD Decrypter or AnyDVD the riped size of the DVD is only 5.8GB

I have DVD Decrypter set to rip all files. After I was getting the size diffrence I started AnyDVD and riped the files with that to my HDD with the same result. DVD drive says 7GB and the riped DVD is only 5.8GB

I even tried encoding them after riping them to the HDD with DVD re-builder and at the end when it is ready to create the DVD it says there is a frame count error and doesn't create the ISO.

So for these 3 disc I had to do them with Nero Recode2. It seems to have done it correctly but I haven't found the time to actually sit down and watch the backup yet to see if it actually will play all the way through.

Any advice or input on what the problem could be?

hello larrylje, was dvdd set to defaults I'm guessing by all files you mean under settings>>file mode.

I don't personally own the dvd but is there multi angle processes or interactive content, I would be interested in what is actually missing?

to satisfy rebuilder you could use fixvts or vobblanker to adjust the ifo's.

are you ripping to iso or files?

for rebuilder's error it may be helpful to post the problem here>>

at first I thought you were only ripping the movie only! then realize you had problem in RB with missing frame count! I never had problem with DVDD or AnyDVD not ripping all the files! what you can do is when your rip I would check each file that was ripped to hard drive and explore the original DVD files and see if the amount of KBs are the same! not just highlighting the total drive and see what size the disk is. see what file is different! you might have a scratch or a fingerprint that is giving read errors and skipping over the read errors! that could cause the difference in files. DVDD and AnyDVD should copy exactly what is on the original disk without alterations unless there is a problem with the original disk itself!

Thanks for the advice guys. I will look at each file and see if there is a diffrence in size on each file like IHoe sugested.

But I highly dought it is a scartch or fingerprint problem. This is happing on the whole DVD set all 3 disc. At this time I have a buddy that is borwing the DVD's so as soon as I get them back I will look at each file and see if there is a diffrence in size on a particular file.

Anyway I used Nero Recode2 on the files that it did rip and it seemed to have done it correctly. All the episodes play fine with no ptoblem. I sat and watched Disc 1 all the way through and never hicup once or seemed to have a problem.

I will try running it through fixvts or vobblanker like L8Ter sugested so that DVD-RB can encode it.

Alright I got the DVD's back and noticed that it is only the last disc (Disc 3) that says 7GB on the disc but only rips 5.8GB onto the HDD. As to what L8ter asked it does have interactive content on the DVD.

But all 3 still give me the frame count error in DVD-RB. Ill try to use fixVTS to see if it will let DVD-RB do it that way.

I'm searching but make sure you are not using the multi-angle processing features in dvdd, and there has been some reported problem's in ripping to iso then processing those mounted images.

just some suggestion's if you'd like to test them out.
