Hi,

Im know there are a few posts on this already but they seem to be software specific. Recently i pulled out an old dvd with 4 avis on it. All the movies work fine on my laptop, however problems arise when i try to copy them to my laptop (i get the crc error). Now 2 of the files copied without any fuss, i managed to get one using CDCheck, but the fourth file just wont copy (CDCheck crashes when trying to recover this file). Does anyone have any suggestions (other than cleaning it, which i have done). Id be really grateful for any ideas.

You can try ISOBuster. It sometimes helps.

Sounds like you used poor quality media for that DVD.

some DVD players or drives compensate for reading errors on disks that are of questionable quality. That's why it may play on a player but it won't rip to the hard drive! have you tried DVDDecrypter, download from here: http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/DVD_Decrypter/1011845169/1
it's a free program that might solve your problem. Here is a guide for it: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm
there are settings that you can use that might help you get through those nasty CRC errors.

Thanks for the advice guys. Much obliged. Managed to sort things out in the end by using isobuster to copy the whole disc image rather than individual files, it took a bit of time but worked in the end. Thanks again
