PAL back-up plays in NTSC. Why??

Hi all,
I have backed up many a game before using DVDD. I just added "The Godfather" to my PS2 HDD and all is fine. However, I also made a back-up of it and burnt to DVD+R.
I tested the back-up with S/Magic 2 but it starts playing in NTSC. (I know this because my T.V is PAL only and the picture rolls/flickers and is in B & W. The original is definately PAL and plays fine, So why with SM does it do this?? I burnt the mds file with DVDD like I usually do, (except if transfering to the HDD I use the ISO file)??

not sure why its in B&W if it is definatly a PAL back up and you have a PAL ps2.

I had to rebuild this game (removes a whole GIG of dud space) and it worked good for me after that.
