my cable company said that they were trying to test my ping and could not get a ping. they told me that this might be the problem with my downloading.

ps if anybody has a solution to this problem please respond

Uhm...

If your cable company couldn't ping the modem (think sonar, ping goes out, ping comes back, speed tells us how fast the connection is), they should have scheduled a technician to come to your house.

Could be line noise, could be an out-of-date modem...adelphia discontinued mine and didn't bother to tell us, heh, could be that they put a pad on the line because you downloaded too much earlier.

Could be an improperly installed modem....

Call 'em back and tell 'em you want a technician. It SHOULD be free.
