ok so i found a place that will do DS modding and i just wanted to double check with the pros here at afterdawn.com ;)

so what ill need is the following...

- SD Supercard
- SD memory card 1gb
- SD Card reader (to copy roms to and from my card)
- Flashing the DS lite firmware

...right?

Im gonna be paying $170 CAD for all this. i could save some $$ if i buy my own SD card, Card reader, and Supercard. Ill leave the firmware flashing up to them because they have the new version where changing brigntess settings on the DS lite is possible...(to be honest i didnt even know it was out)

now what id like to know is if all this will still work if i buy a Mini SD Supercard instead of the regular SD supercard (because the Mini SD Supercard is smaller and will look less bulky on a DS Lite)

let me know!

thanks a bunch!

Yep, thats everything.

and yes switching to a mini SD won't make any difference to what you need.

thnx for the reply..i got a few more questions...

1. once i flash my ds lite, will i be able to "re-flash" it back to its original firmware?

2. another post here says that flashing a DS Lite may cause the DS lite to become a brick. im worried now. should i be?

3. does flashing require opening up the DS? if not then why (in the other post) does it say that theres a chance that if you "operate" near the battery connectors that you can brick the DS?

4. is it for sure that the new software is out (the one that after flashing still allows you to change the brightness settings?) if yes, then the ds's software will NOT be different whatsoever (except for the fact that it can play roms and stuff...right?)

thanks!

Theres a file called noflashme.nds that removes FlashMe, however i do not know if it returns the brightness control (why would you want to remove FlashMe anyway?!)

You will only brick your DS if you turn it off during the installation, so just make sure your battery is fully charged, and your DS is connected to a power supply

You don't have to fully open your DS, just remove the battery door as though you are going to replace the battery, and then use a paperlcip (or similar) to short the SL1 (many guides around that say how to do this).

I know the new software is out, but as I don't have a Lite I haven't looked for it so I couldn't tell you where to get it.

is ok, cause some guy who flashes ds is gonna do it for me and he says he has the new software.

the only reason i would wanna undo the flashme is in case anythign happens to my ds :P...sorry im paranoid sometimes lol.

what if while flashing the ds is not connected to a power supply, but the battey is fully charged?

also you seem to knwo your stuff about DS modding, would u mind if i added you to msn? if its cool with u can you pm me ur email?

thanks!

It's fine not to have the power connected, it's just another saftey precaution to make sure you don't lose power, thats all.

Curious, what site did you find that will do the services? I'm interested too. Also, please let me know what luck you have with this. I am also a noob to DS mods, and would like to know what will work the best.

sorry for being unclear...by "place" i didnt mean a site...i meant a place in my area that does the modding right there in front of you.

as for modding my Lite, i havent yet because well..i sold it to someone who wanted one pretty bad, so now im just gonna have to wait till June 11 like everyone else :)
