Hi, I'm trying to merge two .avi files into one; and I'm using virtualdub. When i try to merge them the following problem appears: "The audio streams have different sampling rates (20461.00000 vs. 2067600000) Also, I already tried to use tmpegnc but i did not understand how to merge them and i used another program called "AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner" but the same error appeared. Somebody please help me on how to solve this problem, thanks.

This is how I do it in TMPGEnc...(Advanced users- If there are any mistakes pls correct them...)

Project Wizard
-------------
1. For Video CD. chose PAL & CBR
2. Load the movie
3. most movies should be 'Non-Interlace'..so keep it like that
4. You can also select the source Aspect Ratio. If its full screen choose 4:3 display, if widescreen, 16:9 (PAL) will work in most cases.
4-1.To check if you have got the correct setting Check ?Clip Frame?. The Clip Frame window will open.
Hit the ?Arrange Setting? button and choose ?Full screen (keep aspect ratio)" from the Arrange Method menu. (this keeps the video from stretching out
disproportionately. Hit OK. Hit NEXT.
5. just skip to 4th step (press next without selecting anything.)
6. chose your cd type (700 or 800 MB VCD)
7. Click next and rename the output file
8. Remeber to Un-click 'Start encoding imedietly' ....press ok & u will be back in main interface

Loading you setting
------------------
1. open load , go to extras and click on ulock.mcf , change the settings as below & save it using a different name..
2. click on 'Load' & chose your setting
3. click on 'Setting'

Setting- Video
-------------
1. Stream Type- 'MPEG-1 Video'
2. Default VCD Pal Setting is 352x288 ....change it like that
3. The Aspect Ratio should be set at 16:9 for movies with borders and 4:3 for those full screen without borders (black bars).
4. Framerate should be 25fps for PAL
5. Rate control mode has to be Constant Birate (CBR) and the Birate has to be 1150kbits/sec
5. 2 pass VBR can produce very high quality video but will make the encoding time much longer.
6. Motion search precision- 'High Quality' is fine..but u really want quality use 'Highest Quality..but it will be very slow

Advance
--------
1. keep the sourse aspect ratio as it is (1:1) (this should have been taken care by the wizard)
2. Video arrange Method is set to 'Full screen (keep aspect ratio)

Audio
-----
1. VCD audio has to be MPEG-1 Audio Layer II or MP2.
2. The Sampling frequency has to be 44100Hz and the Birate has to be 224kbits/sec.
3. Keep Channel mode set to Stereo.

cutting section 1 from a movie
------------------------------
1. Settings>Advance>source range
2. 'Start frame' for 1st part should be 0
3. Drag the slider to the part where you want to cut and click on 'End Frame'
4. click 'OK'
5. enter the output name as 01.mpg

saving section 1
----------------
(Batch-encoding)
1. enter the out put file as 01.mpg
2. File>save project>01.tgr
3. Make sure the out put file name is 01.mpg

cutting section 2
-----------------
1. Settings>Advance>source range
2. 'Start frame' for section 2 should be 'end frame of section 1.+1..(if end frame of section 1 is 500...start frame of section 2 should be 501)
3. Click on 'Move to end Frame'
4. click 'OK'
5. enter the output name as 02.mpg

saving section 2
----------------
(Batch-encoding)
1. enter the out put file as 02.mpg
2. File>save project>02.tgr

Combining the 2 sections in to one
----------------------------------
1. File>'Batch encoding'
2. Add> open the 2 projects (o1.tgr & 02.tgr)
3. make sure that output name of both 01.tgr & 02.tgr is the same (01.mpg)..then both the files will be combined and saved as 01.mpg

That one is a common VirtualDub's error given by the use of MP3 VBR instead on MP3 CBR in the AVI's audio.

Read the FAQ.
