Because...well, let's think for just one little second.
You're using a program called UTORRENT.
It came from UTORRENT.COM
They have a FAQ there.
You asked a question that I found the answer to in 10 seconds by going... wait for it...wait for it...TO THE SITE YOU DOWNLOADED IT FROM.
Seriously, why bother to use a program if you don't even read the documentation when you have a question?
And, for the record, a "search bar?", horray for you, YOU HAVE ADWARE!

And another thing, the information on ”Torrent.com didnt help me as much as i wanted it too. When i searched my computer for the folder %appdata% or Application Data it was never found and i deleted and re-installed ”Torrent on my computer and it said the same exact thing.
P.S. tomMelee u just had to get the last say in with a 13 year old right
what are you..........8
i dont need anyones help ill figure it out on my own
and as for the search bar crap...ill admit to my own mistake i used a search engine but i wasnt watching my words when i decided to ask for help ...let alone did i know that i was gonna get "schooled" by an 8 year old

Lol.
Application Data is a hidden folder. You must go to tools/folder options/view/ and then check "show hidden files and folders."
Application data...
go to my computer/c:/documents and settings/username/ and application data will appear as a slightly grayed out folder. From there you can do what you need to do.
And, for the record, working with 8-17 year olds is what I do professionally, in a behavioral healthcare field.
You get a little extra credit for being younger than I assumed you were, I apologize for that, but the trick w/ the internet is, in most cases "if you search for it, you can find it."
I hope you get your issue fixed, I personally deleted utorrent after about an hour of use. Azureus all the way for me!

ok im sorry for my outburst, i thought you was an ignorant hot-head but i was completly wrong and your advice did just aid me to fixing utorrent thanks!
see everything should have a happy ending
*another edit
i followed your exact directions and i was able to change the file type but
A)i cant cut the files to another place neither can i...
B)delete the files or the folder containing it my error message says
"cannot move resume.dat:the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
is there any program that i can use to bypass the file deletion protection
p.s. i know that it does not state where to get a program like that in the ”Torrent FAQs
i might as well switch to the prog you are using now

Forget it guys i fixed it using my highly capable and complex(lol) mind in order to repair it on my own. Just in case anybody needs help in order to fix it themselves just copy all the files in the original utorrent folder and MAKE SURE you EXCLUDE the resume.dat resume.dat.new and old and the settings.dat and settings.dat.new and old and create a new utorrent folder in the same directory as the original ”torrent folder. make sure u rename the original utorrent folder to anything u want.In the new utorrent folder create a resume.dat resume.dat.new and old and the settings.dat and settings.dat.new and old and make sure u enable "show known file exstension" in folder options. Restart utorrent.exe and change the settings back to the way u want it. GOOD LUCK!!!
p.s that was my first ever tutorial so pleez dont flame me!
