Hey there guys Im really needing a bit of expert help i have tryed almost every typ of Grade A media On the list Burning on dvd decrypter alchohol 120% and even tryed nero at variuous speed the only disks that have made good copy's are TDK 8x dvd-r (TTG02) and these disks are no longer available.

I have tryed maxell 8x, Sony dvd-r 8x (both made in japan), TDK's with the newer lead in codes (TTH02, TTH01) and have recently bought Taiyo Yuden (dvd+r 8x) YUDEN000-T02-00 in book typ dvd-rom and normal.

The same results every time skipping cut scene's and the Ps2 lense is making a clicking noise trying to read it. My ps2 runs all origional games and dvd movies perfectly and all backups on the now no longer available (TTG02) TDK's,

I have updated my dvd-writer's firmware (lite on 16x dvd-rw +/- DL SOHW 1693S), have opened my Ps2 and given it a good clean Lube and service. I have defragged my hard drive rebooted, disconected from the internet and ensure disks get an Optimum burn absoultly nothing is working. any fresh ideas i may have over looked?

a sumary of the finer details:

PC spec: Athlon xp2600, gig of ram, Lite-on 16x writer SOHW 1693S, windows XP

Burning programs: Alchohol 120% and dvd decrypter (speeds 1x-8x dvd-rom and normal book types)

Ps2 Boot method: Swap disk 3.6 with slide tool

Ps2 version: SCPH-50003 Silver

Lead in codes: TTG02(worked but no longer available),
TTH01(coaster), TTH02(coaster), SONY08D1(coaster),
YUDEN000-T02-00 (beleive it or not coasters)

So, you have back-ups that work on TTG02 TDK's.
Have you tried the very same games on the other "problem" media?
Can you burn a DVD movie to your problem media and play that O.K on the PS2?
On the face of it, assuming this is not a problem associated with a specific game back-up, it sounds like a problem with your burner or your PS2.

PC Specs: CPU-C2D E8400, M/B-P5N-E SLI, RAM 4Gig OCZ Platinum rev2 ,VGA- Nvidia 8800GT 512MB, HDD- Hitachi Deskstar SATAII 1TB, 250Gig Maxtor IDE HDD.
Corsair HX520 PSU, Liteon Lightscribe DVD Writer, Pioneer BluRay drive.

sorry to hear you are still having that problem. i know you posted up about this before, and have pretty much already done what everyone told you (like updating the firmware)
It just seems odd to me, and i am still stumped.
I have had 2 different burners (one of them a Sony DRU700A) which is really a Lite-On burner. I have burned to all kinds of medias with movies, and games for both Xbox and PS2 and have never run into a quality media that did not work.
Now Memorex didn't, but that is no real shocker. But i got them free so i gave them a shot. And i had bad luck with the printable type with the white labels on top. Other than that, no problems.
I used the Philips 8X DVD-R for most of my back ups, even though it is 3rd grade media it works every time and i have not had a problem with it in the 2-3 yrs i have been using it. And the Verbatim 8X DVD+R Lightscribe discs also worked well.
I have plenty of the Philips 8X DVD-R, if you want to try them just for kicks PM me with an address and i can mail you some free of charge of course, just so you can test them.
But something is wrong for sure if you can not burn all of those quality type media's you have.
And since you do have working copies i know that you know how to copy games correctly. I use DVD Decrypter for pretty much every game i did and it has also worked great.
Have you tried getting a DVD Cleaner disc and cleaning your burner at all? I know mine started making a lot of games that didn't work and movies with glitches when it was dirty, and then just did it all the time when it got a few yrs old and i had to replace it with the BenQ i have now, which works great.
How old is the burner? Could it just be past it's time?
Have you tried these games you are making on any PS2 other than yours? If they work on another PS2 then it is your PS2 that is the problem.

Hey there Guys cheers for the reply's The disks work fine For backing up data and making dvd movies. i still had a few of the old TTG02's left and i Burnt shadow hearts 3 with one of them and it still works flawlessly on those disks.

and i have tryed backing up a few of my old copy's onto the new media and they dont work.. so its seems to be my Ps2 is just REALLY picky on media..

So far the only disks that work for me are the no longer available TTG02. My mother has a ps2 and she lives quite far away but i did try a TTH02 disk last time i was there, and it worked fine on her ps2. so i have narrowed it down to my ps2 just being very picky.

i dont think the ps2 is damaged in anyway as it still plays all origional games (cd or dvd),ps1 games and over 100 TTG02 backups without any problems..( i have almost 100 origional shop bought games)

its just finding another media my ps2 likes. i have now spent over 100 pounds on disks trying to find such a replacement and have always ensured they where ranked as grade A. as my next step i have contemplated eather trying the -r yudens or buying a new ps2. but im really nervous about spending so much money again because we all know there are no guarantee my ps2 will like the -r's or a new ps2 will have a more generous dvd drive.

also my dvd burner is quite new only a few months old and still burns all the movies perfectly. also unlike my old burner it always gets a good buffer my last burner the write speed was never constant used to drop and rise again but this one i always get a constant reliable burn speed.

i forgot about the other post where you tried them on another PS2.
Yes, the problem is your PS2 then.
I have 2 different models and they both worked fine with -R media, it was the +R media i had so much problems with, the games just never seemsed to work right for me with those.
If you are going to get a new PS2 i suggest saving your money and getting a system that is premodded with a good modchip like DMS4 Pro or Matrix Infinity. Then no swapping ever. Among other advantages.
Make sure if you do this and are getting a V12 that the place you are getting it from installs laser fixes in them.

That or you could always try getting a hard drive and HD advance, then you can load games on it and not worry about if the laser will read the discs. Plus the load times woud be much faster. and from what i have heard with HD Advance 3.0 almost every game will work.
The HDD option is best if you have an older chunky style PS2.

well i have the ps2 network adapter, so if i buy a hard drive for it can i download HD advance? or even load HD advance with the swap magic.. and how do you get the games onto the hard drive?.. im a bit strapped for cash just now so the pre modded ps2 and even the hard drive is a bit optimistic at present. so ill see if i can get a hold of some Yuden dvd-r's and try them first... is there a way to buy one or two? cause i dont want to spend another 45 pounds on a pack of 100.
also is there a big difference between yuden plus and minus? is there a chance the -'s will work even tho the plus wont?
