Hi i have just got a flip top cover and swap magic disks for my verion 9 ps2. my friend copied one of his games (resident evil 4)for me before he went on holiday, he did this on the fly using nero. i have just purchased soul calibur 3 and kingdom hearts one and two. i have tried many times copying these games on to dvd+r and dvd-r disks the disks according to dvd decrypter are Manufacturer ID: TYG02. i am using dvd decrypter to write and burn the content of the games on to the blank dvds, i am slowing the write speed to 2x and the burn speed to 2x once the games have copied i insert the swap magic disk into my ps2 and it loads up fine and tells me to insert program, i take out the swap magic disk and insert the game i have just copied ( kingdom hearts ) the cd spins a bit and then the console says not a valid ps2 disk. iam using the newest verion of swap magic and i am copying the games to my hard drive and then on to blank media, because i cant do on the fly. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME and tell me what i am doing wrong or how they managed to do it, by the way resident evil 4 which was copied by a friend works fine and that disk is a philips.

...seems to me if the backup your friend gave you worked and the backups you made didn't it must be something your friend did that you didn't...the only difference i can see is your DVD writer seen as your media looks fine...

perhaps try a different brand of media? it could be ur ps2 doesn't like them, but otherwise i'm not sure why it wouldn't work, sounds odd.

are you making sure to use the Swap Magic DVD version not CD version?

make sure that is what your doing.
Make sure your burners firmware is up to date
If they are 8X DVD's then burn at 4X, read speed you should leave at whatever the default is.
And make sure you are burning the MDS file and not the ISO
Make sure all other programs are shut down when burning and do not use the PC
i Use Philips 8X DVD-R all the time and have for years, i love them. they work every time for me.
There are so many factors as to why a game might not work it is hard to narrow down.

hi thanks alot for helping, i have been burning at 4x because the media has the max size of 8x. Iam using the dvd disk as i have checked because thats what i thought, i also try and close as many programs as possible before i copy and burn the disks, i dont use the special boot because i have tried and it still came up invalid ps2 disk. When i use dvd dycryptor i burn the mds file so it is also not that, all the walkthroughs on here i have tried and i am at my wits end. I have a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-812S so this is the newest firmware too, PLEASE HELP

hello

seems you are doing everything right,so i guess it must be the disks you are using, just because they are TY02's doesnt mean they should work
i have a friend who's ps2 doesnt like verbatims with the TY02 dye,and his ps2 only reads cheap brand disk's???,so go figure?

change the disk type, try and get a sample pack

btw,the read speed doesnt make a bit of diffrence, and never try and burn on the fly

cheers!!

also, why dont you try and booktype one of those dvd+r's you have to dvd-rom (use DVD Decrypter for this,if it supports you burner, which i think it does support lite-on)

try svpcommunications, they have sample packs there.

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=177&PHPSESSID=ea7f5f93c861...
or go for some riteks

http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=976&PHPSESSID=ea7f5f93c861...

but first try booktyping one of those dvd+r to dvd-rom

thing is,you dont want to be spending lots of money trying different disk's,when its not guaranteed to solve it,but its like catch 22 situation..so what do you do.....hehehe

cheers!!!
