I have downloaded several torrents from a site that has legal torrents for Who fans(www.longliverock.org). Never had an issue. The DVD's burned with the menus etc.

I just downloaded a compiliation and when I tried to burn it I get a message telling me that it needs a DVD-9. It should not need a DVD-9 as the file size is 4.18 GB.

The other issue I ran into was that when I tried to allow for lower quality settings so it would fit onto a regular DVD Nero wanted to use its' own menus rather than the menu that was downloaded in the torrent. So it would show 1.VTS 01 etc.

Now sure what I am doing wrong. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the file is already only 4 gigs then just burn the image using Nero Burning Rom.

When you say image are you referring to an iso?
What I have is a folder with vts, VOB files etc.

Yes, that is what I meant (too much time in the Shrink forum dealing with ISO's), open the VIDEO_TS folder (full of VOB's etc.) and burn them with Nero burning rom.

Sorry but I'm a bit of a neophyte with this program. I tried to
burn the image as you suggested but couldn't get to the right screen.

I opened up Nero with Smart Start and chose Nero Burning Rom from
the list of apps. It then opens up a dialog box titled
New Compiliation. I clicked on all the DVD options in the lefthand
sidebar but could not find an option for Burn Image within any of
the associated options.

So I closed out the New Compilation box and went to Recorder>Burn Image. Thought I had it here but when I opened up the VTS folder
it didn't show any of the files so I changed the file types to
All Files. I tried to select all of these files but I was only
able to highlight single files.

Here is a little Burning Rom guide for you:

I followed the directions in the guide. Where I run into
trouble is after returning to the Multisession window from
the burn tab.

At this point I selected Start Multisession Disc
as shown. And then when I select Open I do not get the dialog
box that is shown in the guide. I get a smaller box titled
Open. The file type is All Supported Compilations and Images;
but it does not show any files. I again changed it to all files
which shows the files but does not allow me to select more than
just one.

I know I'm missing something. I really appreciate
your help. I am using -R and Nero ver. 6.6.1.4.

Try holding down your ctrl key on the keyboard to select multiple files...you will want everything in the folder into your burn cue.

I tried doing that but it will only allow me to select one
file. I cannot select multiple files.

You may need to use Express to get files burned. Don't start with Burning Rom, import the files into Express and try burning them that way.
