I bought my swap magic set and discs two days ago.

I made my back up following step by step guide posted on PS2nfo.com, used DVD Decrypter etc.

I then burnt on a JVC DVD-RW. (1-2 X Speed) (Version 1.1/2X)

I loaded the swap magic on the PS2 and once it stopped spinning I put the back up into place. (Pro Evolution Soccer 5)

From the minute the backup started spinning I realised it wasn't going to work as the way it span was very different and just didn't seem right.

10-12 seconds later the screen came up with the 'Not a valid PS2 Disc' message.

I read up on afterdawn forums, for this problem, and decided to buy a better media having come to the conclusion that this may be the problem.

I bought a Sony DVD-RW. (1x 2x Compatible with CPRM)

I then followed all the steps for correctly burning backups (I even recreated the Image from my original PS2 disc)

And again once I put the back up into the PS2 and pressed X to boot the back up, the DVD again struggled to spin and 10-12 seconds later I received the 'Not a valid PS2 disc'

I have ensured that I am using the DVD swap magic cd also.

PLEASE HELP.

Thank you.

Just to clarify, are you using DVD-RW's or DVD-R's?? If, in fact, you are using DVD-RW's, that is your problem. You will need to use either DVD+R or DVD-R. You'll have your best luck with 8X (disc speed) burning at 4X, and as far as brand, go with Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, TDK, Maxell or Philips.

There is a stickied thread up top pertaining to high quality media. It goes more indepth.

Yup! Only a very small percentage of PS2's can read RWs, that's definately your problem. Get -Rs
