In the latest updates of AnyDVD Ripper the box to remove "unreferenced and blank cells" is no longer checked by default. Is this better left alone or should the box be checked routinely?

I don't know the answer to your question, but here is a thread that discusses what you ask:

Maybe you can glean more from the above thread than I, because the discussion to me seems to sidestep the question....

You are right LABOY, the thread sidesteps the issue. The response from slysoft just eludes to the use of AnyDVD with other programs, so all I got is that if you are going to use the ripper and then edit manually leave it at default, if you are using the ripper exclusively then check the removal tab. Of course that is just MHO.

If you are going to use the ripped file with DVD Shrink, shouldn't the unreferenced and blank cells be removed first. Wouldn't this avoid shrink hangups?

If you are going to use the ripped file with Shrink, yes I would use it. If you are going to use the ripped file with VobBlanker then no, because you would be doing the same thing. Some people like to edit out other things using VobBlanker so it would not be necessary.

i put a check mark in the box reason being doing the disney movies give me the biggest fits and need the extra help with the anydvd ripper to remove the blank cells then i transcode the movie with clonedvd 2 and iam done. but to be honest i think VOB Blanker is still your best bet on removing the bad/blank cells. i contuine to have problems with disney movies making copies of backups and the backup not playing back right after a few weeks i have never completey figured this out
