hey there guys just thought id say thanks for all the help i went and did it.. went down to the shops with wad of cash in hand and bought a new ps2.and yep the taiyo yuden's i bought, the sony's i bought and the tdk's i bought all work flawlessly on this new one... so it appears my old PS2 despite running all origional games flawlessly must have had a bit of a knackered lense after all. but im so happy now! its been driving me nuts! cheers for the help guys.

i dunno if this is deffinatly the case.. but my Mothers ps2, My new ps2, mate ross's and mate Hook's ps2 all black Run anything you throw at it, my old ps2 and my other mate kris's ps2 both silver. wont run shit. coincidence?.

i would probably say it has something to do with what version the ps2's were.

yeah the lense was deffinatly busted like. bought a pre owned Ps2 with a years warranty from the local video games store works perfect now. was only 40 pounds. prolly not much differnt from the cost of the repair so im happy with what i got. and the year warranty on a second hand ps2 was a good deal aswell for extra piece of mind
