Hi there. My son wants Final Fantasy ps2 for his birthday but it isn't available in NZ. I have a friend in the states who can buy it and send it over to me but I don't want to do that unless it's actually going to work when we get it here! Does anyone know about the different ps2 formats and if this game will work? We use the PAL system here I think. Thanks.

the game will be in NTSC so it wont work on a PAL console unless the console has been modded or you have a swap magic disc

Doing a search on TradeMe and gpstore (I'm from NZ too :D ), you are right you can only get the game for PC here... and those are the two sources I'd look for if I tried to find anything :( Hmm yeah unless you modify your PS2 you won't be able to play the game bought from US

My son says if it hasa mod chip in it it wont play online anyway, so it's a waste of time? He went to Dick Smith and they said they may be able to order it in. I hope so!

You can play it online with a modchip, but you'll need to rebuild the game, and its not the easiest thing to do sometimes.

Also try EB games, they are a lot more onto things when it comes to PS2 games, otherwise have you tried looking for the game in Australian websites? I think they have FF XI for PS2 there... not too sure though

I can't find a PAL version on any Australian sites or the EB Games you mentioned. I wonder if they made a PAL version?

Good point - I didn't see anything on a PAL version of the game... the one I played was the PC version...

Might be easier just to get the PC version?
