PShop File Not Saved With A Composite Image

I have been a PShop user for a good while now, and I've never experienced this problem. Just recently, when I go to open or preview one of my saved PShop files in the Finder or in another application, it gives me this message...

"This Layered Photoshop file was not saved with a composite image"

As I recently researched this error online, I found a few solutions for me to try using as in the way I save the PShop file, but no fix for the Finder/any other app. What I mean is, I never use to experience this problem, so how can I get to go back to the way it was. Is there a preference I can delete? Is there something I can change?

Any help is appreciated.
