hey I got ProCoder2 and am having trouble with it. I want to use it with the mutiple encoder processes. Are there any settings that I should do to ProCoder2 when I am setting it up? The reason why I am asking this because I get some error message saying something went wrong and then RB shuts down and turns itself off! I don't even get anytime with the error message! Then I noticed that I have to reinstall my Codecs to get my region free player to work properly again and it also messed up AnyDVD (it won't rip properly). This is weird! What I did was reinstall my Codecs using Ace Megga Codecs then I reboot....... everything seems to work ok after that. But every time I use ProCoder2 this happens and I can't seem to get it to work. I noticed a very big time difference between ProCoder2 and CCE..... still can't compare it because I can't seem to get RB to work with it at all and check out the final folder with the movie in it! It's a little fustrating and I'm thinking I need to manually set ProCoder or something to get it to work! Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

it's hard to say just what went wrong there ihoe I suspect a faulty installation or set-up.
I'm of course assuming you have eclpro 1.0 set as the path to procoder, and quicktime.
do you have any idea what the error said or in which phase it happened in.
pro2 is most normally going to take quite a bit longer than CCE unless your system is just not being fully utilised by CCE in which you will be able to use dual instances of pro2 to make up some of that time.

you see my specs in my sig... computer is now a year old.....has 2 processors and I used the multiple encoder processes in RB. Still was taking a long time. What I'll do is uninstall Pro2 and then do a reg cleanup, defrag, spysweep, and then reboot.... reinstall and see what happens with Pro2 and try again..... that will be my 4th time doing it! Maybe I'll get it right! LOL Just thought Pro2 had some settings that might need to be placed in so the error message goes away. Too bad it was there and then gone along with RB shutting itself down! RB already has eclpro 1.0 in it under encoders folder in the RB directory. I am using the latest version 1.09.3.

so you have created the ecl pro ini. file and pointed it to pro2 since you say it reached phase 2 ??!!??
this means you would have avs files in your working directory correct?
if so view them and make sure you are viewing the movie that you tried to encode just to make sure ecl is correctly feeding pro2.
do you have quicktime set-up? (there should be an icon in your tray)
I'm having trouble following your post's please clarify.

here is my settings..... and yes it was working but I did erase all those files so I can't view them. I will try agin soon, and see if I did it right..... I looked at Pro2 while it was working and viewed the preview screen which showed it was working.

[00:22:14] PREPARE/ENCODE/REBUILD completed in 154 min.
now I put them side by side and checked out the files:
notice that CCE made some of the files a little bit larger but the picture quality is different:
This is with ProCoder2
This is with CCE
the difference is very slight..... I like procoder2 but CCE with it's speed (procoder2-277mins to CCEs-154mins) and very small difference makes my pick with CCE. maybe I should have done Pro2 without the multiple enconder processes? would that make any difference in speed?

okay you know I've got to be a critic don't you hate that.
first let me say good work. I applaud you for your efforts :-)
I would be interested in source details bitrate, interleaving, etc
and they are different frames, can you get us the same frame?
also it looks by your screenshot that pro2=4434mb's/4.33gb's
cce=4432mb's/4.32gb's
opposite of stated difference
have you burned and watched both and looked for any difference in mosquito noise?
as for speed difference if it makes a difference it will make pro2 slower depending on how well one instance uses 100% of your cpucycles.
kudos on your testing Ihoe. keep up the good work :-)

ok...... where would I get Quote: source details bitrate, interleaving, etc
and.....what player can I get to extract and take a picture using the same frame? I tried my best, after several attempts, to take a pixs using region free Media Player Classic and DVD X Player. Unfortunately, it doesn't show the frame #s so I couldn't match them exactly but it's close! At least the closest I could manually get! LOL oh well! And you're right about the larger files being in the Pro2 folder! I didn't look close enough at VTS_01_5! but I did notice when I examined both playing side by side that Pro2 had a deeper color than CCE (was lighter in comparison but not that much lighter). Mind you this is an expisode DVD and it's 3 plus hours long in total video time. Sooooo I would save the projects and then do them in batch while I sleep! Wake up to the finished folder and burn!

I think maybe the best program for obtaining info on video files would have to be GSpot (at least that I know about)
I know vdub mod can get you exact frame's I think dvdremake can do the same.

concerning the colours:
make sure to use "convert to yuy2" in dvd rb options

Quote: make sure to use "convert to yuy2" in dvd rb options
that has always been checked so there convert to Yuy2 was never an issue. The color reference was to the difference between the 2 encoders and viewing both movies .... that both were done with RB and the "convert to yuy2" was checked for both movies!

just did another movie using ProCoder2 (without the multiple encoder processes) and to my surprise it only took 128mins! That's pretty close to the time that CCE would do! I am going to test it out now doing the same movie with CCE and see the exact time. The movie looks great by the way! Something I would expect CCE to do! I'm so glad I got this encoder..... now I have the best of both worlds! LOL

ok..... did the same movie again, as stated above, this time with CCE..... 89mins with CCE and 128mins for Pro2. Both give great results and I think I'll stick with CCE because of the time. It's good to have ProCoder2 as a variable to go to if you don't like the outcome of CCE.

here is where you choose Multiple Encoder Processes
I use RB with CCE and it does 2 passes. I say that CCE is still great in my book because it's faster! ProCoder2 is a great encoder with warmer, deeper colors output. Just my 2 cents.

I also use RB with CCE and generally do 2 pass and on KK and Munich did 3 pass. Anymore I do not think is beneficial and a waste of time, but that is my opinion.

Sorry I am newbie for this.
Under Setting, I need to check on Multiple Encoder Processes or not to be Check on ?
At the last question: I am asking You. If you use RB and CCE, Did You run in 3 click Mode with RB-OPT?

If you're running CCE then can't use Multiple Encoder Processes. That's for ProCoder, HC encoders. I use CCE in One Click mode. I tried ProCoder.... I like it, but I use CCE only because it's faster and the quality is very good.
ohhh Arniebear..... are you blowing me kisses???? gezzzzzzzz!
