Nero6 - free MPEG4 codec?

hi people, i have nero6 that came with the burner i bought a while ago but most of the time when i add a video file it says mpeg4 is not available. when i have gone ahead and burned ignoring the mpeg4, the sound and picture dont quite match up properly ie they are a bit out of sync. the movies are still watchable, it just gives me the sh*ts! will mpeg4 fix this up?? if so, where can i download it?

any help is greatly appreciated!
