hi i was stupid and i subscribed to bellsouth. and i was reading some messages on this website and they say that i have to open up my ports by typing my default browser in an internet browser. and i did but what came up only gave me theoptions of restarting the modem or disconnecting. its really been bothering me the highest download speeds i get off of ares p2 filesharing is 15 kb a second. can anyone help me to increase my speed without buying a higher speed because the speed they advertise is 256 kb a second and im not sure how they do math but 15 is far from 256

Forwarding your ports applies if you have a router. If so, go to PortForward.com, click forwarding, find your router and follow the direction for it and the applicable program. I am not familar with Bellsouth, so if something else applies, ignore this.
