I have purchased Swap magic 3.6 (pal version) and a slide card today, with the intensions of ordering the US Kingdom Hearts 2. To test if it works I copied one of my original PS2 Games (Shadow of the Colossos, if that is of any importance). I used DVD Decrypter to make the ISO and used the same program to burn it.
Then i read the instructions and i did the following:
1) I removed the screw from the PS2 Drive
2) I took of the "cap"
3) I put the screw back in
So far so good, I don't believe i did anything wrong here.
4) I opened the drive regular way
5) I inserted the Swap Magic DVD disc
6) I closed the drive the regular way
7) I got the Swap magic menu (press x for normal boot and square for special boot) and i inserted the slide card on the left side of the drive, with a 2 centimeter gap as advised, i then slided it to the right, and the drive opened a little automaticly. Then i opened it all the way
8) I removed the Swap Magic disc and inserted my copied back-up of Shadow of the colossos.
9) I closed the PS2 drive by pushing it back in with my hand.
And here i >think< the problem lies
10) The instruction said: Insert the slide card in the left side of the PS2 drive like before, and slide it to the right so the PS2 "locks".
Whenever i try to do that the drive comes out a litte, like it should in step 7, but i cannot in any way close it.
I would like to know if this is why it wont boot the game, but instead says: "Not a valid PS2 DVD".
I have looked at countless instructions and forum threads, but i cannot solve the problem, any help would be greatly appreciated.
