I have an old style fat PS2+network adapter with messiah2 chip

Some patchhed backup games go online OK like ;
Starwars battlefront2, battlefield2, F105, project snowblind, call of duty
Some other patched backups fail DNAS

There seemed to be a pattern that gamespy games work ok but sony games were not (this may be my imagination)

I went out and purchased original discs ;
Killzone, Burnout 3 , Ratchet & Clank UYA
These originals DO NOT go online, they too fail DNAS like the patched backups. Even when the messiah chip is disabled (holding down reset for 10 seconds while booting and checking to see if it disabled by non-booting backup game)

My network config is obviously ok as some games work and even the ones that don't work connect to net before failing dnas
The PS2 is in DMZ

I cannot figure out what is reason I can't play these original games. Could those games fail DNAS because the DNAS can see the modchip even when its disabled ??
Has anyone got any ideas or experienced similar ??

Its impossible for DNA$ to detect your chip if its disabled. Cant say for sure what the problem might be unless you post the DNA$ error code that you are getting with these problem games.
However, I can say that your theory on it only happening on Sony games would be incorrect, since Burnout 3 is by EA.

The errors i'm getting for the original games are ;

Ratchet & Clank UYA - DNAS (-603)
Killzone (-105)
Burnout 3 (-603)

They were all described as time out errors
