I had this, and the first forum response I got, said there was a problem with my DVD Burner, which would mean it needed to be replaced!
This is one possible reason, but I also found that a CD-RW disc I had was the only one causing the problem.
If you are trying to burn to a CD-RW you have used before, try another disc. It could be this.....

I've used Nero 5.5.9.9 for quite a while although I'm using 5.5.10.20 now.
Power calibration is more to do with Hardware than type of disc. It could be the software tripping out mind...
What hardware are you using ??

Panasonic SW-9571 DVD-RW, Its only a few weeks old. I have got some burns out of it, but most of the time it gives this error.
Never had an error burning music tho?
When i have had successful burns, it seems to be when the computer has just been started and not been on for long???? anything to do with heat????

Have you tried burning a DVD back up by only going at X1 speed yet?
Datawrite X2 are okay but if your backing up a film over 2 hrs I'd always suggest burning at X1.

I Had this error message everytime while using my NEC 1300 writer. In the end the problem was the media. Tried an expensive Ricoh disc and everything worked perfect ever since. The hunt is now on for a cheaper type of media that the writer likes

I`ve tried all sorts of media, just finished with some datawrite ritek G4, they where no good - freezing an hour into the film. Although they did give fewer power calibration errors. Is their any writer that will play cheap media? i.e datawrite -r

Nac - something is going wrong if the Ritek aren't working. Have you upgraded Nero to 5.5.10.28 or higher. Im currently using 5.5.10.35 and you do notice a difference.
But you may need to think about returning it as well!

OK, this is a long shot but here goes anyways.
Once I had a problem with hard drives going "bad" on me. I had set up a build station in my den and used it for a couple of months, then all of a sudden I was going thru hard drives like there was no tomorrow. These were all older computers so the first few I dismissed as co-incidence, until a friend suggested something that ended up being my solution.
The power circuit I was plugged into was not providing enough power. Turns out that particular wall plug was drawing power off a light fixture. As soon as I moved my build station into another room and all of a sudden everything was working fine.
You may have a similar problem of not enough power. First check your wall plug, also check the power supply on your PC.
