Hi, i have my xbox 360 going into the tv using the hd output and everything works perfect Except! Dvd playback! when ever i pop a dvd in any dvd in the collection the screen is shifted to the left!! :(
Any ideas!!??

yes set you tv to normal then set the hd tv signal to 480i the higher the setting like 1028i places the dvd off the screen and causes some weird troubles

try this and see what happens

if this doesn't work then it may be that the widescreen dvd if that is what you are using is not compatible with the hd tv cable i had this problem with the nightmare on elm street collection and that is how i found out about compatibility with different dvd's worse one on playback is lord of the rings 1 special edition due to the high encryption

so try it and see what happens

warning: not all tvs can handle 720i and 1028i and if you try it on this setting you can dagae your xbox 360 and the xbox can damage your tv so choose your setting wisely

johnodd is right.

DVD playback on the 360 is limited to 480p. When you switch from a game to a DVD you switch from 1080i (or 720p) to 480p. The 360 does not upconvert during DVD playback. The results depend on how your display deals with 480p signals.

sounds like you could have a problem with your tv seetings you may want to try another dvd

and see what happens

So your saying if you set the Xbox 360 to output a resoultion that is not compatable with your tv you can damage your tv?

yes it can damage your tv

i set me tv settings to 1028i and the console to the same settings and it went all blurry and started to distort the image and now i have the xbox 360 logo burned on my screen

Great points guys
especially if you have a crt tv, the concentration can really mess you up.
Do you have a hd/standard switch on your cable socket to your xbox?
switch off hd if so switch to standard

itll should work just fine
