I have a movie thats supposed to have subtitles. The folder contains these files: MsInfo file(not used), Xvid movie file, text file(not needed) and a winrar file containing an IDX file and a SUB file. I've been trying to play this in VLC media player.

I tried highlighting the Xvid with both rar extracted files, and the Xvid with SUB file. Is there a way to play this without having to burn it?

Thanks for the info and help in advance.

The nfo files isn't an MsInfo file.

VLC supports VOBSub's, it should autoload them if they have the same name and are in the same dir, however it doesn't enable them by default.

I didn't say that it doesn't load them, just that they aren't enabled. You just need to goto the subtitle menu and set it to something other than disabled.

I see, I see. I thought that since they were 2 seperate files that they would have to be linked/merged into one to play it back. Thanks, I'll try it out.

The .sub basically contains the original bitmap subpictures from the DVD and the idx contains timing, etc. info.

ok... theres a shit load of features in VLC and I have no clue where to Enable this... would it be easier on a different media player? I only have VLC, veiwpoint, Nero showtime, windows media and DivX yet... formatted a while ago and got lazy and didn't download any other media players yet.

Well the only two players that I recommend are Media Player Classic and mplayer.

With MPC, make sure that the output is set to VMR7/9 renderless or Haali's renderer.
