Home movies on DVD.....

I have some home movies on DVD (that I converted from VHS). I want to make a home movie from all the DVDs I have but Windows Movie Maker doesn't seem to be able to import DVD files. Does anyone know a way to do this so I dont't have to convert all the things I want to .avi first? Thanks.

If space is not a problem, you can do this easily with e.g. DVD Shrink:

1) Copy all the dvds onto the hardisk, each under a separate folder (e.g. movie1, movie2).

2) Run Shrink, click 'reauthor', go highlight the video_ts folders of the movies one at a time, and click to paste the various 'titles' over onto the compilation window on the left. Adjust 'compression settings' if necessary, then burn to dvd with e.g. Nero.
