Is there a way to fix corrupted .wmv files ??

I have a few football games that were sent to me via file-sharing. They are in .wmv format. They play on my computer from start to finish perfect. When I try to encode them into mpeg format to make dvd's out of them they fail and say the files are corrupted. I have used the following encoders with no luck.
nero
tmpeg
windows media encoder

Any suggestions??

But be sure to backup the original wmvs first 'cos things might backfire.
