Hi, I was wondering. For those of us who aren't brainless enough to destroy our PCs but can't do without a particular game, can starforce be avoided by downloading a game directly off a legal website such as Direct2Drive? Or do games with SF not appear on these sites?

Of course, games sitting on your hard drive would be ripe for bit torrent etc. so they must be protected somehow, but how, and does it involve starforce?

Anyone know what the scenario with this is?

Ok i can't really go into alot o detail (I think)

But search on google for starforce remover.........
It actually shows up as an unknown device in your device manager........So you have to get the Program and Unhide the hidden devices and run it...and it will remove it from your computer

I also heard of some people that are fileing a lawsuit of SF because it violates there personal privacy because it is installing without consent or something like that

That doesn't actually answer my question, merely tells me why SF is bad. I'm well aware of that! I was wondering what the effect is on games that are directly downloaded, but legally (D2D and so on). Surely disc protection doesn't apply for direct digital transfers?

It's just a protection for the game......I always got it removed before i played so all i knkw is that it installes a device under the hidden Devices part of the device manager

I know that really doesn't answer your quetion fully...but as long as you remove it, it should be fine

Sorry

Yeah I'm well aware of that, but I was actually asking whether games that are downloaded have that protection on them, because of course what's the point of a CD check when you're not even using a disc? They could make you burn a disc to start with, but of course what point is there in that when you start off with the original digital file? It'd be ripe for Bit torrent.
