Underworld Region Free??

I just bought underworld "Widescreen special editon" and when i put it into my laptop to back it up, i went through anydvd and when i looked at the protection it showed

Summary for drive D: (AnyDVD 5.9.6.0)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 1933056 sectors (3775 MBytes)
Total size: 3641920 sectors (7113 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: DVD_VIDEO
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is region free.

Found & removed RCE protection!
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Structural copy protection not found.
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

What caught me was the "media is region free" i was wondering what the deal was with this, i allready searched and did not come up with anything, so i was wondering what was up... P.S. I live in the U.S. and this "should" have been a region 1, i saw the rce protection on there but if it was region free then what would rce do?
