Help needed with Philips 955 and DVD+RW disks

Hi ...

newbie alert!! :)

I have a standalone Philips DVD955 player and just got a Soney DRU-500AX burner. No matter what kind of disk I burn, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW the player tries it a few times and then spits it out.

I tried using DVDXCOPY to create a disk, Nero, MyDVD etc. All act the same.

A lot of people were talking about the medium making a difference ?? I'm also searched the forum and some users were reporting success with the DVD955 (but the posts are older that 45 days .. so I can't ask them)

Any help / suggestions would be appreciated!!
