I apologize if this has already been asked and answered - I couldn't find it anywhere. With the Windows Media Center operating system, recorded shows are saved as DVR MS files - Nero will convert these automatically so that a DVD can be burned but some movies are copyright protected and Nero will not convert those. I've found software (Digital Media Converter) that says it can convert DVR MS files to mpeg or AVI but it doesn't address the copyright protection issue - I suspect it's the same as Nero in that it won't convert anything that's copyright protected. I would buy this software but not if it's going to have the same restrictions as Nero. Does anyone have any experience with this?
(Minor rant - it bugs me that you can record anything on TV and burn it ((legally)) to a DVD using a burner that's connected to your TV but you can't do it using a very expensive, new computer that's supposed to offer a total media experience)
