So, who do you think will win and why? Personally i am with Microsoft and their 360. Not much reason, apart from that ridiculous price tag. I mean, the 360 is like around 300 dollars, which is reasonable considering all the new and updated software, hardware and hard work that went into it and overall, not to mention we get Halo 3, it is actually a reasonable price. With Sony's PS3 on the other hand, their console costs a ridiculous 600 dollars!!!! I mean, thats kinda pushing it really. So the PS3 may have some better stuff than the 360 but atleast the 360 doesnt cost as much as the PS3, that may also degrade Sony's reputation. I dont really care about which side you take, just keep comments and posts respectful please, thanks.
I think that Sony will maintain on top. However, much of it's market will relocate to Microsoft. I also think that Nintendo will gain it's own share, bringing in targeted non-gamers and some former Sony fans who went with the Wii instead of 360.
(The following predictions are based off nothing):
PS3: 60-70 mil (Still ahead, but a significant decline)
Xbox 360: 40 mil (Gains momentum, perhaps MS breaks even this time)
Wii: 30 mil (Gains momemtum, outperforms Gamecube)
Of course, any of these systems could have some killer apps and spread like wildfire. One could also see a significant decline in PS3 or 360 depending on the outcome of the format war. Wii may surpass 360 if HD-DVD is a flop, or 360 could lead PS3 if Blu-ray is another betamax.
All that is true, but the consoles are so different ... I'll admit it, My name is Bryan S. and I was a PS2 addict - lol. Seriously though, you're not gonna see the same online connectivity on the PS2, expecially if its a free service, and the games are, for the most part, a different Genre. How many games did the PS2 have that could hold up to Halo 2? How many good online fps games does the PS2 have - how about RPG's ... aside from the FF series? The xBox/xBob 360 is and always will be more of a gamer's machine while the PS2/3 will always be more family oriented - they both get get totaly different audiences.
I switched because I wanted something that was better looking on the screen, and I wanted to play fps and RPG games ... without having to be tied to my laptop, keybd & mouse.
I don't think mr cool means that you should buy them at the same time. I have a 360 and an HDTV now. By the time the PS3 and the Wii come out I would have saved enough to buy both of them.
