I have been searching this site/ fourm and I hear alot of people talking about rebuilding games. Some posts say, if you have a mod chip like Matrix, or DMS you don't need to rebuild. But then other posts say if the file is over 4.7 (i think) that you have to shrink it in order for it to work?

As far as I know, you do not need to rebuild regular single layer games if you have a mod chip (I think, I don't have one). If the image is larger than 4.7 gb, the game is dual layered and must be rebuilt in order for it to be burned onto a standard blank 4.7 gb DVD -R.

if you have a good modchip, you don't need to rebuild.

i_suck is right.

I have a Matrix Infinity and don't need to rebuild any games. The only time I've rebuilt a game (God of War - which is dual layer) was when I didn't want to pay extra $$ to buy a dual layered disk. For other dual layered games, such as GT4, I did a 1:1 back up onto a dual layered disk - no patching, no rebuilding, no nothing. So the moral of the story is spend a few extra $$, get a good chip and you wont have to waste your time rebuilding games - which I can assure you take quite a while to do.

simple answer.
Swap Magic users need to rebuild some games.
The 2 modchips you mentioned you do not.

The game above 4.7GB is a dual layer game, most people even with modchips rebuild these and remove parts so they will fit on a standard DVD5 (4.7GB) disc rather than buying a dual layer disc. Swap Magic users have no choice as it will not play DVD9 back ups.
Some chips like the DMS4 Pro will play a dual layer (DVD9) back up, other will not without patching the ISO file with a program called Toxic Dual Layer Patcher.
