Ok i've been coming here often and reading alot of the posts to gain information on backing up my ps2 games......well so far i've been unsucessful......i've used tons of media from tdk to sony and currently i'm using Taiyo Yuden.....which is suppose to be the best...i'm using 8x dvd -r's and i'm burning at 4x....my burner is a Plextor so it should be up to par you would think.........and I have a older version ps2 not sure what version exactly but it had 8 screws......and I have it modded with the Flip top and swap magic........and I've tried both Alcohol and Dvd Decrypter to burn with.......i've even tried upgrading firmware and such.....so far all i've been able to accomplish is either Green screens or Black screens when I switch out swap magic disk and put in the game disk..........and Swap magic implies that green screens mean bad media lol....which I dont see how that is possible if i'm using TY now.....does anyone have any ideas I could try? or maybe something i've overlooked or done wrong...any information would be helpful......well thanks ahead of time.....

well, at least he did his research. I give you big props on that.
It seems that you already know what discs to use, what speed to burn, that firmware updates are important and so on.

But after all that it should really be simple. I would say 95% of the games out there do not require rebuilding so it should be a strait up copy with DVD Decrypter.

I am assuming that all of you retail games are still loading up?
What game is it, just in case it is one that requires rebuilding?
Even if it is bad media i figure you could at least still get one to work as far as loading up the intro screen to the game. It may not play well but would at least load past swap magic.
do you have any friends with a modded system that you could try your games on?
Do you have a friend who has Swap Magic so that you could try their copy and make sure that yours is just not bad?
Have you tested any back ups that anyone else has made?

It is real hard to find reason why games do not load as there are just so many.

Maybe giving your lens a good clean would be a start. The first DRE's are always on back-ups.

I forgot to mention that I did clean the lens also .....and yes my retail games boot up fine....although I did notice that there is a little bit of a gap in between the flip top and console when it shuts like u cant see it by eye but the cd is a bit loud and if i push down on the top a bit it goes away and is normal....i've tried both magnets the old one and the one that came with the new case......but thats another problem for another post I suppose.....some of the games I have downloaded and burned are Soul Calibar2, Raw vs. Smackdown, and Tekken 4...I havent tried to rip my own games yet figured i'd try to see if this even worked first before I end up making that another varible in the problem.....I really cant think of what it would be....I do have a friend that has one and he has only gotten 2 games to work sucessfully and both are japanese games.......and he uses verbatium.....So are you guys familiar with the green screens? it says that its bad media but that cant be it lol......and I would think my Plextor burner would do a pretty good job....it has never failed me for dvds and such so i'm at a lost for troubleshooting lol.....is it possible that i've downloaded 3 bad games u think?
