Error while trying to burn AVI to DVD

Hi, Im getting a problem when I try to burn an AVI file. I get an unknown error. Should I reinstall Nero? I have been trying to burn these for a long time. If anyone can help, thank you in advance!

Hello there.
You can post the last section of your Nero history. It can be found here:
Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt
Sections are seperated by dividers such as ====================
Just remember to edit out your name & serial number at top which usually starts with IA23 or similar.

It is Nero 6
files trying to burn are AVI files.
Pretty much, what I am trying to do is:
convert the AVI files to mpeg1 or mpeg2 so that they may fit in a DVD
Then burn them onto a DVD with menus.
I thought you could do that with Nero 6.
I actually got to make a couple of DVD's with the AVI files.

You can burn AVI files without converting them, using Nero. Theres a guide by alkohol in my sig...he uses Nero7 but you can use Nero6 the same way.

yes, I read the guide by alkohol but every time it it gets to the point where it is transferring data and getting ready to encode it hits an error. This is with every AVI file. I wish I could show you the screen shots.
Is there anyway to wipe out Nero entirely and reinstall?

thanks for the links, I reinstalled and I get the same error again. When I put the choose the AVI file and go to try to burn just one file it stops again.. any other suggetions?

I tried creating a VCD using AVI files, just to see if i could, and it gives me the same message as when trying to create a dvd. I tried looking for the Nero 6 history log but it is not there.
The message is not specific, it just asks me if I want to save and that an error log is being created... I just wish I could see this error log and paste it here.
And all of this happens when it is trying to transcode, when it loads the file this is when it happens.

ok, this is getting kind of bad... i updated the driver for the sony burner, updated the Nero software and downloaded the codecs. it is giving me the same error message but when it gets ready to burn. Ill try to get the Error log in here again. Im sorry for all the trouble.
