I'm looking for a new lcd monitor for basic computer use and also hooking up a ps2 through either s-vid or component. Has anyone here tried any monitors that have both analog, dvi, and either s video or component?

It is becoming that we don't have a lot of selection anymore. Most manufacturers are phaseing out crt, and lcd is it. Look for a higher refresh rate, faster than 12 milliseconds, maybe a lot faster. Size and speed get expensive. Read comsumer posted reviews, they are usually brutally honest, be prepared to spend more than you want.

you want 16ms or faster "Veiwsonic" is the brand to go with ,this oneView Sonic-VP2030b 20.1"LCD 1600x1200 res.8ms respone time per my sig. is one of the best out there for gaming.

http://viewsonic.com/

Viewsonic has some 19 inch LCDs that are down to 2ms respone time

I've looksed at some viewsonic models. How important is the contrast ratio though. For example I've seen lcd's with 4-8ms refresh rates but the ratio is 300 or 500 to 1. Basically is it really worth it to pay for a higher rate say 800 to 1??

My monitor is 19" with 8ms refresh, and 500-1 ratio. When I first got it, it seemed too bright. It has toned down a little since, or I am going blind. Ran some benchmark programs that came with my video card, FutureMark and a couple of others. Graphics were great. Lots of contrast, even in dark settings. I'm picky and couldn't find anything to complain about. The only thing is I will get a little rainbowing when speed scrolling through web sites. Not a big issue.

mines 1000 to 1 i would go at least 400 to 1

i would say no its not worth paying alot more for a higher Contrast Ratio ,most good LCDs are higher anyway

That is a really attractive woman on your sig. Who is she? If it's your girlfriend, well, she's still pretty. Tell her I said, "hi."
