I've been trying to backup my Fight Night Round 3 on 120%. The game starts, but doesn't make it past the "loading" menu.

I burned the game on 8x, but everyone says that 4x is the best. Does it matter for a swap magic 3.6

Maybe it has to be a ISO file and not a MDF. I am thinking about using Nero burning rom. 120% isn't cutting it.

Any suggestions ?

For best results (Atleast for me) Burn with DVDDecrypter, at 4.0x as a .MDF/.ISO file. Works great, loads fast. (And I'm using crap media!)

lightscribe, lightscribe.....I'm sure I went to buy them once and upon reading the packaging I decided against it. can't remember why, but they didn't sound like they were the best for burning PS2 games and DVD movies.....Can anyone enlighten us on the V lightscribes?

The best Verbatims are datalife plus from what I've heard, I also buy the 1x-8x speed cause I burn on 1x or 4x at the most and the 1x-16x are more expensive, I can get a 15 pack of Vs for $10AU locally or even cheaper if I shop online. Not sure if 16x speed discs are better even if you burn at 1x or 4x.......that's a good question.....anybody?

reminds me that I must try those Taiyo Yudens at some point....everyone raves about em.

The important thing for the ps2 and xbox is look for disks with Ritek GO5 dye More important than brand..and burn slow...I think Verbatim disks are overpriced junk...don't get on with them at all.. I think it's all name not substance.. I use Ridata dvd-r 8X.. silver ones and I burn about 400 a week without any problems

Ok, the speed does matter if you want to get a good copy.
Burn at half the speed that the DVD is rated for, but not above 4X
Like an 8X DVD is burned at 4X
a 4X DVD at 2X and so on

Verbatim discs are a good brand. here is a media guide so you can go by the media ID and find something good.

i suggest buying in small pack sizes until you find one that works at least 9-10 times. media is a funny thing and everyone will tell you something different. It depends on what your burner does best with and what your PS2 laser reads best.
Mine is Philips 8X DVD-R and most people would tell you that those are junk. But i have used them for 2 years now and hav done more movie, PS2, & Xbox back ups then i care to count and they have yet to fail me.

I have some Verbatim Lightscribe discs (8X DVD+R) that i bought with my new burner at Newegg.com and backed up a game on it and it works just fine

I use Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8x which I booktype to DVD-ROM, but when I burn at 4x they dont work - I have to up the burn to 6x and they then work flawless !!

I think this may be an exception tho rather than the rule, but I would just experiment - the worse you can do is get a couple of coasters.

lol steimy...those philips are plain strange..Where I am some batches are great and others are really bad..they burn nice on damp dull days?? (maybe micro dust particles in the air on hot dry days?? :-s..)..

I even managed to get a good burn out of Datawrite yellows!! (now those really are usually junk!).. Good plan..go to a computer fair and scrounge as many free samples as you can.. the ones that work are the ones to consider buying.. lol

hey reefbreak,

Lightscribe is badass. I make the coolest labels for my disks. I can't recommend it enough. My PS2 games work perfectly. Makes your backups look professional.

I haven't had any problems since using DVDD. 120% was weak.

Thanks guys for the help

I burned something on a Ridata(ritekG05) 8x DVD-R disc and the game only loaded once. I then tried a Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R using DVD Decrypter at 4x speed adn the game loads very fast and always.

yeah, i thought it was strange too janrocks,
even worse they are CMC Mag and still work perfectly in both my PS2's, my Xbox, and my DVD Player.
Go figure :)
I plan to switch to Verbatim once these run out though, see how well those work.

yes, the newer burners burn much better at 8-12x. if you have a burner that's 1.5 years old then burn at 8-12x

All in all it's just a weird subject...how many books could we write on the subject of dvd media between us???.. The variables..xbox or ps2 drive and laser setup/make/model/age..burner age/firmware revision/number of burns..stability of pc, both electrical and physical, amount of RAM (and are there any page faults) and dvd drive buffer size...how many hundreds of possibles do we have there and I haven't even mentioned disks yet... and I'm saying nothing about CMC Mag ???

Steimy...Buy a heap more quick before they run out, burn 'em and send some over to CD-Freaks and wait for the howls of disbelief..how cool would that be..maybe they are "real" ones??? not korean fakes..( {sarcasm}CMC Mag the only people to sell pirates of their own product!!{/sarcasm}) lol..whatever works go with it.. I have a thomson xbox drive that reads Gigatain (and only gigatain) cd-r if it isn't finalised.. work that out :)
