I have a quicktime movie that is 320 x 240 and i want to make it 240 x 176. But when i shrink it the sound is not synced with the video, and it gets worse the further you play the video.

So this is what i have done...

I first shrink the quicktime movie with mencoder...

mencoder -ofps 30 -nosound -vf scale=240:180,crop=240:176 -ovc x264 -x264encopts bitrate=300:pass=1 -of rawvideo -o writingstyles.264 writingstyles.mov

Then i strip the audio with mplayer

mplayer -vc dummy -vo null -ao pcm:file=writingstyles.wav writingstyles.mov

Then i encode the audio with faac

faac -b 128 --mpeg-vers 4 -w -o writingstylesaudio.mp4 writingstyles.wav

Then i just package it up with MP4Box

MP4Box -new -fps 30 -add writingstyles.264 writingstyles.mp4

and then add the audio

MP4Box -fps 30 -add writingstylesaudio.mp4 writingstyles.mp4

Anyone know why this would make the video and audio go out of sync?

I thought this would be better put in this forum than the linux one.
